Why is an Insurance Company Buying my Brother's Wrecked Vehi

Hi,

a little background, my brother was in an accident, not at fault. He's getting an insurance payout (from the company that insured the person who hit him), but they're taking his truck. (not a problem for him, as he's getting more than he payed for it).

My question is, why are they taking the vehicle? I assume that my brother had a choice in the matter, and that he gets more if they take the truck. But why do they want it?

Hi,

my license was revoked February 2016 for my second DUI. I was granted a Relief Driving Permit (RDP) in October 2016, to drive for work purposes. However, my company's insurance will not cover me to drive a company vehicle. I am eligible for full reinstatement in February 2019.

I'm in California. My Infirnity Insurance has paid the $18000 in repairs. My vehicle is ready to be picked up. I cannot afford the $1000 deductible until the end of the month. The auto shop says they don't take checks and they wont bill me either. Can I ask to tak t to a different shop to iunspect the rtepairs? Will that release the car to me? Can the shop hold the car if it has already been paid for the bill?
