Did Guardian change Cost of Living Rider

I thought Guardian Disability Insurance Cola rider was tied directly to Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) and would move percentage wise (year to year) as CPI moved. Now I see where Guardian Disability Insurance offers a Cola rider with a fixed 3% increase - year in, year out. The company also offers a few other Cola rider options but all seem to offer the 3% base Cola increase non-withstanding what CPI does year to year. So did Guardian recently change their Cola Rider policy or was it changed years ago?

Temporary vs long term

Does anyone have any idea how long the state of Pennsylvania keeps an employee on temporary disability, at what point does it become permanent. I was approved for social security disability with in 90 days of filing. At some point the other will become a permanent but not sure when, any ideas?

Should my long term disability insurance be taxable?

My employer offer long term disability insurance as a standard benefit and I’m the sole one to determine whether or not to make it taxable. So here I was having some questions:

1) Would the premiums be added to my taxable income?
2) Would I still be required to pay taxes on the benefits if I’m actually disabled?

Since the premiums aren’t very high and the benefits are capable enough to replace my current income, it seems to me that taxing it now is a good idea.

Could anybody say what would be the pros and cons of such an arrangement?

What amount can I keep in bank if surviving with SS benefits

I’m currently on social security disability and I’m trying to save some money. I’ve heard somewhere that there are limits on what amount you can keep there in your bank while you are on disability. I did make a call to the local social security office but I wanted to know as soon as possible. I’d appreciate any feedback.

I’m currently doing a part time job with a small corporation. It started just as 20 hours a week and then got extended to 30 hours a week. Am I eligible to get any kind of unemployment insurance? Now as I have moved in a bigger city, I need some financial security.

Taxability issue on Long Term Disability (LTD)

My employer offers LTD as part of standard benefit and they also choose to either make it taxable or not. Are the premiums added directly to my taxable benefits? Or, would I be required to pay the taxes if I receive the benefits on true disability grounds?

I believe taxing is a good deal since the premiums are not that much high and the benefits are so good that it could easily replace my current income.

Unfortunately, a no-brainer to me. So any commentary that would elaborate the pros and cons would be very helpful and appreciable.

Why do I have to pay for SDI?

I am 77 years old and had a knee replacement recently. However, I didn't get any state disability insurance benefits as they said that I couldn’t collect SDI after 65. I paid all the bills out of my paychecks. So why do I have to pay if I don’t get it when I need the most?

I want you all to help me with my disability that I got before my employer terminated my services. The main problem here is that I received an ankle injury before I was laid off. But the doctor who treated me under-diagnosed my health and certified that I was fit to walk and work.
