Does anyone know anything about Glen Smith Consulting? I've been offered a job by this company to send and receive Western Union and Money Gram transfers for local and foreign clients.

I feel like it's some sort of scam. They claim to be a part of The Producers' Alliance but there is no mention of Glenn Smith on their website. Any help would be warmly received.

Does any independent agents use Quickbooks in your office? Any thoughts on the web-based online version vs the desktop?

Allstate Agent Expectations

If I were to buy an Allstate agent's books for $100,000 of my own cash, how much should I reasonably expect to clear after expenses, assuming I worked alone for the first year and had approxemently $20,000 in overhead a year?

Insurance Broker vs. Agent

I'm an Independent Insurance Agent in GA and want to know how do you become a Broker?

I've read so many different things for example:

-There is no real difference between agent/broker/producer
-To be a broker you must have been an agent first depending on what state you live in
-Brokers don't have contracts with Insurance Companies

Is it better to be a Broker than an independent agent because you can negotiate the price for clients?

What else is required to become a broker besides a surety bond?

Thanks.

Don’t Give the IRS Every Last Drop

January 4, 2010

By Lance Wallach

Have you seen the commercials where certain companies advertise that they can settle an IRS debt for “pennies on the dollar”? Usually the offer is too good to be true. Besides, you never want to have the problem in the first place.

The chances of an individual being audited have approximately doubled since 2000. So you need to be careful with your tax return.

Property & Casualt Insurance Agents

I worked in the home office of a life insurance company for almost ten years and loved the business. After fifteen years away from the field I am now a property and casualty agent with an independent agency. I would like to link up to some experienced P & C agents on this site to learn more through their knowledge. Anyone qualifying???
