Hello all. I am thinking about starting my own Independent Brokerage Agency in the next few months and looking for as much advice as I can get from all the experienced individuals on this website. I plan to start small and work out of my home office starting with life and health lines.

What are some of the sales tools you use in insurance sales business?

Hi, does anyone know of any Texas-based organizations that focus on life insurance? I have come accross the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (“IIAT”) but it seems very P&C focused.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am primarily interested in finding useful conferences and trade shows to attend to start building a network.

I've recently made a determination to become an insurance agent after 18 years in the real estate business. I'm nearing completion of the studies for the California life agent state exam. I have a dear friend in the business whom has offerd me a sales position with a reputable company where he is a sales director. His company does provide leads at no expense to the agent. All the while I'm studying, I wonder if insurance has any "recession proof-ness" to it...?

hi! it's been like 9 months since i got my life insurance license but i am having so much trouble getting leads. i am a captive agent i have to sell and recruit too sometimes i think i will never do this job. i need to be advised on what i should do. should i go to a difrent company that has leads already or should i stick it through? please HELP!

Does anyone have an opinion on the best Texas Adjuster school. After researching them I have come to the conclusion I need some guidance on how to choose the school who gives the best training for the buck. US staffing runs alot of ads, but after talking to them and visiting different forms such as CADO, they do run a good school but all the other glam seems t be a big sales pitch, so Im asking for some helpful opinions

Anyone work for Physician Mutual insurance I have a interview and want to know how well they are doing, do they have a good training program and do they assist you with leads. Also can you work this are any company from how selling insurance life, health or auto if so please let me know the companies from home I currently work form home.

I am looking at hiring a new producer at a 10% commission based on Premium sold. He wants to open is own location where he lives. Fine by me , but can he make it with rent and bills if I am paying him 10 %? He will sell mostly P&C with some health and life.

Thoughts ? any one ever do this?
